Why Some Businesses Don't Want Your Custom

I’m currently working on a client’s blog. They are pretty sure of what they want the blog for, what they want it to say, and how they want it to look. Great. However I’m having trouble with their web host.

It’s not expensive to get a good web host and it doesn’t cost much to get one with great support, however this particular host isn’t one of these. Everything seems too much trouble, like the client’s needs that are seemingly no concern of theirs. The client has got a pretty basic package, but more than enough for what they need to start out. The host should realise that these type of customers are likely soon enough to want to upgrade to a better deal, with more bandwidth, web space and features.

Taking care of my client now can provide valuable future income that would otherwise cost a considerable amount more to acquire via advertising.

48 hours to respond to a simple online support ticket? Time to advise them to change host before they really get started…..

  1. Thanks Becky, it’s taken me many years to find a reliable web host with the features I need and at the price I want. It’s often trial and error I find, even with recommendations!

  3. Hi, Interesting about the webhosting.
Here is my 10 years of experience.
    1. Verio(dot)com is good but support is poor.
    2. 1and1 is poor and support is terrible
    3. aplus.net is awful and support is worse

Finally, I and my technical guy decided to go with a dedicated web server at lunarpages. This will cost about $130 monthly. My tech guy has another customer who has used lunarpages for years.

There is a world of difference.

Web hosters suck you in with their deals and then they cram as many websites on a webserver as they can.

  5. Hi Joel,

Since the link didn’t work, my Yaro comment was @ Hunter w/ some references to you – here it is:

    @ Hunter –
Wanted to say, I went to your site & gotta love your subtitle:
“…Stop sucking and live a life of abundance.”

Right. Your summations were true concerning the math above, Hunter. But, hey, life goes on, 1 + 1 day at a time… and that equals 3 days if I’m correct! Don’t know at this point. I’m thinking of utilizing someone I just discovered via: YARO >> to JOEL WILLIAMS, http://www.BlogTechGuy.com >> to NINJA, http://www.ninjablogsetup.com/.

NINJA will do the initial set up of a WORDPRESS BLOG for anyone for free! And from what I’ve read so far on his site, he’s reputable & experience is his middle name. You just have to obtain HOSTING through his links directly & he offers various major choices. That’s how he can do it free – the hosts.

Super. I’m hoping he can save me hours of aggravation having to painstakingly load the entire Brew-Ha-Ha! So, so far I see that as a, “Yee haw!” And Joel has kindly offered his services & to email him if I need further technical help https://www.blogtechguy.com/contact/.

I would be a very happy camper, thanks to YARO, and thanks to JOEL… for steering me towards NINJA country. Yaro recently had news of Joel’s tech help in one of his newsletters, so again, thank you, Yaro.

Joel gives some great tips on his site; insider secrets to help the TECH-NO-COMPRENDO online population. Joel, if you’re reading, you may use that if you like:

What do you think, Joel, like that? Could you use that? I think it’s catchy.

In fact, if interested… I could be your Go-To-Gal for zingers & personal catch phrases. Plus a bit of copy help w/ a ZIP that’ll give your readers a real ZING!

Sort of a Ying and Yang w/ a definite BANG! 🙂 And, I say this nicely, of course, that I see you could use a little proofreading help. We could scratch each other’s backs, as they say. I could help you out & you could, in turn, give me a bit of TECH-NO-COMPRENDO help when I need it.

Hey, I think “For the TECHNO-NO-COMPRENDO” is an even better way to put it! Yeah, much better!

Let me know! Oh, and that was uncanny how I zeroed in on your brother, a TWIN even! That’s great.

Re: the COMMENTS being finite – I think it’s a wonderful idea. You’re the 1st I’ve seen to do this…Mah-ve-lous! More should be that way. Save time & headaches and alleviates SPAM SIFTING in the kitchen!

  7. Hi Kathryn,
Thanks for your comment as always. The link you sent links to a comment that no longer exists for some reason, but I appreciate it anyway.

Yes, LG Adam is my (twin) brother, well spotted 🙂

The closing of comments is something set using the Comment Timeout plugin. Over time a lot of spam comes on older comments that people may read but not comment on, so whilst Akismet spam plugin protects from a lot of spam I’ve noticed on other blogs that this decreases the amount it has to deal with and also the ones that slip through. Cons? I have it set too soon at the moment, I will change that (to 6 months or something), but besides that there are lot of newer posts to comment on or my email, so I don’t think I’ll be missing out on much.

  9. Yep, understandable. 😉

Head over for your latest, what I call, “Link-Love-Can’t-Get-Enough-Of” advertisement: http://www.entrepreneurs-journey.com/959/desperate-buyers-only-review/#comment-605317

And while I’m here, wondered if in your MyBlogLog collection of pics below if “LG Adam” was your brother. You guys sure look alike. Also, do you find it helpful to give a cut-off date for comments to be posted, as you do below? Cut off date or no cut off date, pros & cons.
