Have you got the issue in WordPress where the Visual Editor is not working? You can see the Visual and Text tabs but no icons or buttons are showing?

This has been happening a lot for brand new installs for various clients and readers emailing me.
If it’s an existing install that you’ve had for a while, often this can be solved by deactivating plugins and then reactivating them one by one. Usually it’s a plugin (or theme) that is adding something to the Add/Edit Post/Page screen
However with a new install you don’t have any of those to cause an issue and it’s one of those unusual cases.
The way to solve it it to go to Plugins > Add new and search for
This plugin uses the latest javascript files from Google’s AJAX Library API rather than the ones built into WordPress and fixes the issue. Click Install and Activate once it’s installed.
Now the Text editor has the icons/buttons and the Visual Editor works too.
Hi. I plugged it in an activated it even the ‘this plugin might not fit with your theme” (in yellow) popped up on the details page. Normally, I don’t use it if it doesn’t work with my theme, but how else am I to handle the problem with jquery when this is the only plugin that adresses that from my research? Thanks ahead of time for your help.
Interesting, I’ve never seen a message like that before. It should be OK if your theme is correctly adding javascript libraries, but you can always turn it off if you notice any issues.

I’m installing this plugin, if only to speed up loading my sites and reducing load on my server.
I’ve had trouble with old versions of WP visual editor when adding media (video and photo) to a post. I learned how to use the text editor so I wouldn’t have to fight with it any more. I haven’t tried using the visual editor in years and updates of WP. Is there any advantage to going back to the visual editor once you’ve learned the text editor?
I too have had it turned off for years but occasionally use it now to speak formatting up rather than typing it repeatedly. It has got a lot better but still annoys me! Thanks for stopping by.

Liked the Visual Editor tip. Funny thing is, though, some of the links on your page (print, facebook, twitter, and the like) don’t work. Above them, the link “use Google Libraries does work. Also, your page was very slow loading on my end.
Hi Gene – what browser are you using? I use Google PageSpeed to speed up my site and using Chrome, IE10 or Firefox all the links and buttons are working great.
