  1. Joel,

Thanks for the tips. I hadn’t gotten to looking around at the new version for new functionality. The anchor text search for related articles on the blog will come in extremely handy for me!

  2. Hi Joel,

Recently I updated my blog to 3.1 as well but not on my niche sites yet because I should make sure everything’s backed up before doing it. This is actually good timing as this one’s relevant on my most recent webinar talking about 15 free WordPress plugins you can actually utilize from and few of those that were new for me were Advertisement Management, Clicky, Exclude from navigation, and Yet Another Related Post plugins! They’re great. 🙂

    Tyrone.

    1. Glad to help! Exclude from navigation is only needed on older themes as the new WordPress menu navigation system is great. However I often have to convert old themes to use this so for those who don’t know how to do it the plugin is excellent. YARPP is one of my favorites too.

  3. Great ideas. I’m in WP all the time.. (next video talk louder please for us oldies!).. love that link idea!… 70 plugins? after hearing about Andrew and your plugins I have to add a few..:)

    1. Sorry, I figured people could turn the volume up 🙂 I only have 70 plugins as I run WordPress Multi-site so it shows all available plugins to all the sites I have, I don’t have that many active on each site! Usually less than 20 on a site.

  4. I’m kinda glad that you showed the screen options as one of the things people may not know about WP 3.1. I was using the menu for the first time and it took me a loooooong time to figure out how to add some of the options in because I didn’t know to click that button! Now I don’t feel quite as dumb.

  9. Hi Joel, Thank many buches. I really like the link one that you showed. This could save me some time when they are already stored. And you don’t have to be that technical. That is good for me. Thanks again and have a wonderful evening.

    1. There are plenty of features I could do without to be honest, but I do like some of the new features they’ve added. It makes things easier which I guess is the whole point!

  10. Dear Joel –

    You’re asking ME?

A plug in is a place where I charge my cell phone.

But the information you give is always appreciated. I envy all you super techs out there. And I love that I don’t have to do any of it.

    Thanks for being briliant.

  11. Thanks for pointing out these three new features in WP 3.1. It is very easy to miss these little changes that make some tasks just a bit simpler.

I’m finding the menu bar at the top of the page (when logged in) very useful, as it cuts out seversl clocks when wanting to access the dsahbaord, or add a post or page.

  12. Thanks for adding videos to your blog posts to keep the readers more entertained? I mean I just read through the entire article of yours and it was quite good but since I’m more of a visual learner
